My recipe for photographing children is equal parts patience and simplicity, because if you just take a little time to watch kids being kids, there’s always a great shot waiting to be taken.  Asking a child to look at the camera and say “cheese” has its place (we all do it!), but in my experience the best pictures happen as a casual observer in a friendly place, like a park, playground or backyard, where there’s plenty of room to move around and explore.
